Mini macarons tutorial (Polymer clay)

Today's tutorial will be on mini macarons. I love love how macarons look and taste, so it no doubt that I have to make them. I'm not too good at baking so I can only make them using clay. The macarons are small but simple to make and you only need one tool. Let's get started!

Things you need:

-One coloured clay (The colour you want your macarons to be)
-White clay
-A needle tool
-An oven

The first step is to create two small balls from the coloured clay (I'm using pastel pink). Make sure both are as even as possible. The sizes of the ball depends on how big you want your macarons to be.

Next lightly press the ball down to create a flat circle.

Which should look like this. Don't make it too flat.

Use the side of the needle tool to press the sides down lightly.

It should have a little dent like this. Do this step all around the side of the clay.

The clay should now look like it has been divided into two.

After you have formed a straight line around the side of the clay, use the needle tool and poke the bottom half of the clay. Lightly poke and use circular motions to create look of the macaron after it has been baked.

There should be little small holes but they cannot be too deep.

 

And you're done with one side of the macaron. Now just repeat the same steps for the other side.

You should have two sides now!

Next, take a small piece of white clay. This will be a filling for the macaron.

Press it  down lightly and it should be the same size as your macaron.

Put them on top of one another.

For the last step, lightly press them down together. Look at it as you press and you will slowly see it taking the form of a macaron!

Finally, bake it and your done!

Put them in little jars and it looks really cute. This is really simple to make and you can make it in any colour you want. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. Good luck!

It's been long

It's been such a long time since I last blogged. I got really busy with work and there was simply was no time to do any crafting. I'm sad... But.... I recently manage to create a few little things and they are up and selling on my Etsy shop. If you want to visit my shop it can be found on the top bar: Shop. If not search for Gemnesis!

I'm calling her Mika. It took me such a long time to get this right. Maybe I should do a post on how my clay dolls change. For some reason, I can't get them to look as nice as the ones I see on tutorials and I don't want to copy the whole style. So it took me some time to get things right.

Mini macaroons in a jar!!! Okay wait for it.... *SCREEEAAMMSSS* I love how this turn out! I'm a sucker for pastels and I love how cute it looks! I must say I almost died at the fifth macaroons but I persevered and it gave me fabulous results!

The idea seemed cute at first.. you know.... tiny bears in jar. Unntill..... after putting them in, people have been telling me they felt sad for the bears squeezing in the small jar. What do you think?

I always create bracelets using the materials as you see in the picture so I decided to go for a change and made a necklace instead. I must say, It always looked good and a bracelet but I'm loving how this looks as a necklace. Just like a statement piece.

The last one that I uploaded was this hand drawn birthday cake cameo setting necklace. I'm not too good at drawing so this was actually collaborated with my friend. We managed to sell a few of this at the flea the last time. These necklaces are really unique and I absolutely love them.

DIY: Clay in the Jar

Yesterday, I chanced upon one book in the library that showed the different techniques to make flowers and plants. So I thought of making different plants and flower and put them inside the jar like those water plants you can find outside.

I must say I'm please with how it looks like but I do have some problems with it too which I will say later. But this is how I made it and I'm calling it "Clay in the jar", mainly because the things that I am going to put in are made of clay.

Time: Depending on individual
Things needed: A Jar (any size)
                         Wire
                         Oven-baked clay (colours depending on what you are making)
                         Clay tools (optional)
                         Acrylic paint
                         Brush
                         Scissors
                         Sand or pebbles
                         Chopstick

First of you want to do this first cause you have to wait for it to dry. Squeeze out the paint colour of your choice and paint the lid carefully place a magazine below to avoid getting paint on your table.

When you are done, leave it to dry.

Start working on you clay figures that you want to place inside your jar. I learn how to make this from the book I borrowed. you also want to make sure that what you make can fit in the jar.

Bake your clay and leave it to cool. While waiting, get your sand or pebbles and fill it to where you want it to be. I'm using sand cause I happen to have them at home but I personally feel that pebbles will look better (Just my opinion).

Carefully add in your clay figurines in, use the chopstick to help shift the things in place and you are done!

My theme is that a two mushrooms living in the dark musky place finally found a gorgeous flower. I like the way it turned out.

 

Okay, this is my problem. the things inside move around whenever I move it from one place to another so I can't give this as gifts or anything cause it's bound to be destroy by the time it reaches the receiver. I'm not so sure if pebbles will be better since the pieces are big and chunky.

Deco: Busy, More, Busy, More

So it was along weekend for me because there was staturday, sunday and monday that i didn't have to work. I got busy with making more decoden( it's been long since i last touched them). Here are some pieces which I made:

The first one i worked on was this jar. If there was a name to give this i would say, 'hello kitty loves food'. Because I added one Hello Kitty with food surrounding her. Initially there wasn't a ribbon on the glass bottle but my mum said it looked kind of naked so I added the ribbon there. So this jar is not meant to put any edible stuff inside. Instead maybe things like your rings, those objects that are small.

This is the first time I worked on a photoframe. I think it turned out quite well but I think I used a little to many cabochons. But i kind of like how it looks like.

This is the second jar which i made and it really different from what i usually make. I had problems with the brown whipped cream and it was suppose to be another design but i changed it because of the whipped cream.

So finally the last one is also a photoframe. I tried to do this one differently using lesser cabochon. I cut out fimo stick pieces and pasted them around the empty area along with rhinestones.

This few works will be available at my shop soon after I work out the prices. Happy holidays!!
